Registered companies and cooperatives in South Africa can now get their domains at the point of incorporation in South Africa, courtesy of the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission. CIPC is the registrar and regulator of companies, co-operatives and intellectual property rights (trade marks, patents, designs and copyright).
CIPC works in partnership with ZADNA and ZACR to offer domain registration service during business registration, and to existing companies. This will help enhance the business to gain traction in the digital space, and also to promote the .zo.za brand online
Cost of the Domains
CICP offers .co.za domain at a cost of R 51.30.
Domain registration is done using the CIPC eservices portal. All the domains registered must be linked to an existing company, and the domain must be renewed every year.
Once one acquires a domain name, they must look for a web hosting service from other providers in South Africa, such as Woza Africa. This is because CIPC does not offer web hosting service.
